The Princess and the Frog ride, tentatively titled New Adventures with Princess Tiana, is an upcoming log flume attraction being developed for Critter Country at Disneyland and Frontierland at Magic Kingdom, replacing Splash Mountain in both American parks.[1]

History[]

During the George Floyd protests of 2020, the subject became a trending discussion on various social media platforms, with many users petitioning some sort of retheme of the attraction.

On June 25, 2020, it was announced that the Disneyland and Magic Kingdom versions would be rethemed to The Princess and the Frog, which was the most common pick among critics as an appropriate replacement, though no plans currently exist for Tokyo's version. Disney media officials have stressed that the concept had been in development for a few years prior, with the social media discourse presumably moving up the announcement timetable.[2]

Attraction[]

The story will take place after the final kiss, and join Tiana and Louis on a musical adventure – featuring some of the powerful music from the film – as they prepare for their first-ever Mardi Gras performance.

Criticism[]

The ride has been criticized before it even opened for replacing a well loved attraction and for not fitting in with the theming of Critter Country.
